Isuikwuato people cry out over erosion menace, call on govt to save communities

The People of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, have cried out to the Federal government, over the threat posed to them by the deadly erosion site in the area.

  

The erosion gully site which is over twenty five feet deep, has succeeded in collapsing a large portion of the Isuikwuato -ABSU road, leaving the people of the area and motorists in threat each time they ply the road.

 

Narrating their ordeal to the PDP chairman, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, during the PDP projects inspection to the area, the council boss, on Nnamdi Udueze,said the area has been battling with the menace for years now and all effort to control it proved abortive.

 

According to Udueze, his administration has sunk over fifteen million naira to control and prevent the erosion from dividing the road into two, after the state government has equally intervened, saying that all effort by the state defiled control processes, calling on the federal government to come to their aid as the present state of the site has gone beyond local or state government.

 

The council boss during the party's rally at the council headquarters thanked the party boss for piloting the affairs of the party in a right direction, adding that his tenure has succeeded operating a transparent government which has given way for internal democracy.

 

He further disclosed that since he assumed office as the LGA chairman, he has committed alot of developmental projects ranging from grading of rural roads, evacuation of refuse dump from major sites, acquisition of a 300KVA transformer among others.

 

While calling on the people to ensure they obtain their PVCs in order to return the governor come 2019, Hon Udueze pledged his total support to the PDP led administration, adding that he would continue to give more dividend of democracy to his people.

 

Meanwhile, the member representing Isuikwuato state Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Chukwudi Ogelle,reminded the party of the need for an Isuikwuato son/daughter to represent Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives come 2019.

 

Hon Ogelle disclosed that Isuikwuato indigenes have what it takes to represent the Constituency effectively, revealing that come 2019,Isuikwuato will take over power from her Umunneochi counterpart.

 

Interacting with newsmen the LGA party Chief, Hon Chinedu Igboko said that the party is ready to take over the area again in 2019,saying that in the face of opposition, the party would still thrive in Isuikwuato,calling on the people to go get their Permanent  Voters Card, in order to return Governor Okezie  Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates.
